Manta 5 Hydrofoiler – Electric Bikes Get Wet!
We take a look at the Manta5 Hydrofoil eBike as shown at the 2020 CES technology conference in Las Vegas.
The Manta 5 Hydrofoiler has been in production for seven years and went through seven prototypes before Manta5 arrived at the finished product, and they now describe it as “the next frontier on water”.
The carbon fibre hydrofoils make it impressively lightweight, coming in at 20kg. A streamlined profile makes the bike hydro and aerodynamically efficient, and Manta5 believe future versions may be able to go even faster.
The Manta 5 hydrofoil appears to be a world first. The motorized aquatic bike is capable of reaching speeds of 20km/h, has variable levels of assist and can be packed down to fit in a car for easy transportation
Also, and perhaps most importantly, it rides on water. It is called hydro-foiling and it looks like a lot of fun.
For those of you who are interested in its specs – it has a waterproof battery and motor, with speeds up to 12 mph. The motor is 460 watts, and is expected to launch in June 2020.
The Manta 5 is looking to redefine cycling and water sports, and if riding a bike on water interests you, this is a product you definitely want to keep your eyes on.
